This year for Christmas, my neighbor handed out reusable grocery bags filled with his favorite Whole Foods fodder. At $4.99 for an 8.8 oz box, the Organic Chocolate Truffles wouldn’t be my first choice for a tasty treat, but I was pleasantly surprised. Just like the Truffettes de France, the cocoa power dusted over each French truffle leaves a brown mess on your fingers (I recommend using a toothpick if you want to enjoy them as a party snack).
Each truffle has a slightly funky shape that’s just north of reindeer droppings.
Overlooking the weird size and choco-dust factor, what does an organic chocolate truffle taste like?
From the first bite, your teeth sink through the one-two punch of semi sweet and dark chocolate. Saying it’s light and fluffy might be an understatement. It’s almost like the truffle melts in your mouth so fast that you have to stop the thick chocolaty drool from running down your chin.
All the ingredients say these truffles are organic, but there’s nothing in the taste that makes me think they’re healthy. These rich truffles are delightful, but I could feel their full gut-bomb potential after just a few pieces.
The verdict: These organic truffles are the tasty escape for any health nut. I’m not the biggest plain chocolate truffle fan, but I will consider putting these truffles out at my next holiday gathering. Trust me, they’ll be gone by the end of the party.

Unfortunately, Whole Foods does not sell their products online. You would have to visit a local store. http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/
