I am a huge fan of Wether’s Original toffees, it’s one of two candies I ever will pick out from a candy dish on display. The smooth buttery texture and the sweet milky flavor leaves me sucking on the treat until the last sliver is gone. I never chew a Wether’s.
Well today I had no choice since a Wether’s Caramel Chocolate Dark is a piece of chocolate with caramel flavored stripes running throughout it in a very pretty swirly pattern. Ok, I had a choice, but sucking on chocolate isn’t the best way to eat it.
Wether’s Caramel Chocolate Dark is new to the market and reminded me very much of Hershey’s kisses with caramel. Originally I thought there would be a liquid caramel center in these treats, like the Kiss, but alas, it’s caramel flavored chocolate, which in comparison was disappointing. What reminded me of the Hershey’s kisses was not only the look and smell of swirled chocolate and caramel, but the taste. It really tastes almost exactly alike. Not the highest quality chocolate, but not bad either. The caramel flavor alone for me always falls short of the real thing. What’s interesting is that I had to remind myself that that this is dark chocolate, 45% cacao, not milk. It is one of the milkiest dark chocolates I’ve ever had.
Is it worth it? If you’re a big Wether’s fan you might just want to try their attempt to break into the world of chocolate and caramel, away from their toffee base. There’s a $1.00 coupon on their site now, for either the milk chocolate or dark chocolate variety, which may make it worth your while. You just have to wait for all the fancy flash on their site to load.

I agree, not the same but still a worthy Werther’s candy!
