I love Trader Joe’s. I love going in and finding something new. I love going through the Fearless Flyer, circling what should be purchased and then buying it plus 6 other things that aren’t on the list that I couldn’t help myself on, including this Dark Chocolate with Raisins and Pecans bar. And it’s organic too!

Packaging
The pale blue and yellow gave me a nice feeling of spring but also made me think of wall paper. Normally I enjoy a picture or too on what ingredients are actually in the bar, but in this case, I’ll make an exception. Plus it was only a couple of dollars.

Appearance
Nice giant square blocks, over a quarter inch of thickness with clear protruding nut and raisin pieces. The “Trader Joe” stamp is clear and clean, and the chocolate candy itself has a nice sheen without it looking gross. Breaking it apart was actually easier than I thought it would be, not the cleanest break, but with whole raisins and pecan pieces, I’m not surprised.

Taste
The smell of the dark chocolate is nice and dark but without being bitter or overpowering. The bite is noisy (I bit a block a third of the way through) and crumbling- chewing is definitely required! The first block I ate was mostly chocolate, I didn’t get that raisin flavor until the 3rd bite with a piece of pecan. A hazard of a chocolate candy with whole raisins and chunks of pecans is not every bite can be crammed with raisin and pecan goodness. So overall, I like the dark chocolate as far as being approachable to people who aren’t big on dark chocolate and then adding in the nut and fruit gives it that extra kick. It’s not the most exciting chocolate candy I’ve ever had, but it is most certainly not the worst. If you like a light dark chocolate than this bar’s for you!
