Trader Joe’s Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Pretzels
I love Trader Joe’s. There- I’ve said it. While there are some things that are pricier or more packaging than I’d like to see on things like produce- I really truly love their branded foods and my favorite part of a trip to Trader Joe’s is that I allow myself one thing to try that’s new for fun. (I only get to go once every couple of months.)
The package was difficult to photograph due to the shiny wrapper, gold and stupid overhead lights. I think you get the idea though- square packages of chocolate. I’m actually glad they put that on there- I thought at first they were going to be in the standard pretzel shape.
I love the pillow like shape, the chocolate coating looks a little dustier than the lucious packaging showed, but as a regular chocolate eater, I am not surprised. What I’m not crazy about it is when I shake the little pretzel pillow is that I can feel and hear the peanut butter nugget inside. This is confirmed when broken in half. (The ingredients list does not show fake chocolate either- so we’re covered there.)
The milk chocolate is pretty good. Creamy but not overloaded with sugar, balancing out with the salty pretzel and fun crunch. The chocolate layer is pretty thick as well and depending on the piece can overpower the peanut butter. The amount of peanut butter per pretzel pillow is pretty small so it’s actually in more of a supporting role overall and to be honest- that’s OK. I could eat these all day.
