Purdy’s Todd Bar

Yeah all I can think of when I see the name “Todd Bar” is The Todd from Scrubs. I tried to put the most obnoxious pictures I could find. I would say success on this…but the actual chocolate candy bar itself doesn’t seem to have to do with anything or anyone in particular.

The Purdy Chocolates website wasn’t forthcoming on any information on this confection other than what it contained. So we’ll just have to do this the hard way and investigate The Todd Bar!

Purdy Chocolates Todd Bar

Packaging
Pretty inline with Purdy does for their other chocolates, with the exception of the gradient font that is flashing me back to the 1990′s. The raisin and peanuts on the front remind me a lot of the trail mix given to elementary kids during standardized testing as a “power snack.”

Appearance
This is not a pretty bar. It looks like a Baby Ruth that was shrunken and tossed aside. It smells great though, soft milk chocolate and peanuts. The interior is very chunky with a heavy nougat holding it all together- the peanuts, raisins and rice crisps, that is. The chocolate is very soft and almost greasy.

Taste
It’s actually quite good. The rice crisps lend texture, the peanut flavor is clearly dominant with the raisin, following, but mostly as it gets stuck in my teeth. The milk chocolate is smooth and creamy and blends right into the nougat, which upon closer examination is proving to be more of a mousse. If they had stuck in caramel instead of raisins (which are slowing me down) I would have inhaled this whole Todd Bar in less than a minute.

  • The Todd bar was actually named after my uncle Todd who created it. The original packaging had his face on it. He no longer receives rights to it anymore unfortunately because it was entirely his creation.

  • Unfortunately the Purdy’s site is lacking info. You’d think they’d post some history on there as a selling point.
