Purdy’s Marshmallow
30 Apr
Yep, that’s all it’s called is “Marshmallow” and that is what it is exactly- a giant marshmallow coated in dark chocolate. This can’t possibly go wrong, can it? My trip to the Purdy Chocolate factory in Vancouver, B.C. yielded all sorts of tasty chocolate candy treats, this just being one of the many that wasn’t Easter themed!

Purdy’s Chocolate Marshmallow
Packaging
The light blue with images of a fluffy marshmallows and gold puffy writing indeed makes me think of the tasty light marshmallow and makes me want to bounce around like the Gummi Bears did on that old cartoon. The fact that it’s a 4x2x1 brick of marshmallow is just exciting.

Appearance
Opening brought forth a wave of wonderful dark chocolate and surprisingly the entire bar is intact and not cracked like I was sure it would be from the trip. The interior was just as fluffy, yet solid as the packaging promised. The dark waves across the top show signs of a high quality chocolate and a decent thickness layer of chocolate coating. The entire brick is refreshingly considered to a be a single serving size (I was expecting the annoying 2) at 270 calories.

Taste
Sure enough, the thickness of the chocolate coating made the shell crack in awkward spots but that was easily overcome by taking a larger bite. The dark chocolate was definitely of a high quality, bitter, but very smooth and no awful aftertaste but at the same time was almost overpowering the marshmallow flavor. As a marshmallow fanatic, I enjoyed how light this particular blend was but missed the vanilla tone some marshmallows have as this one was almost flavorless- the fun was all in the texture. Was it a great way to pass the afternoon in the company of a big brick of marshmallow and chocolate? You bet. Well worth the $2.95 Canadian.
