Celebrate this year’s Independence Day with a red, white and blue chocolate treat. Just in time for the Fourth of July, these desserts are not only patriotic and fun, but are simple to make. I went to my neighborhood grocery store and picked up a bag of Ghirardelli Chocolate Premium Baking Chips in Classic White Chocolate. The bags are found in the baking aisle of most supermarkets, and can be picked up for about the price of two Snickers bars.

Picked up at the Luxury Chocolate Salon in Seattle, CocoTutti was one of the few vendors that made Cocoazilla pull out her wallet and hand over some cash. Based in San Francisco, this hand crafting confectioner allowed Cocoazilla to ask some questions (which is good cause it the website is a bit bare bones right now) and found that the orange confit truffles we’re about to consume were made with fresh farmer’s market oranges. Ah Moonstruck Chocolates. I tried in vain to get to one of your many cafes in Portland but had to settle for mail order instead. This intriguing product of tumbled chocolate ice wine raisins was just too good to pass up.

Strawberry and Champagne Dark Chocolate

World Market has released a unique combination of flavors that may spark the interest of dark chocolate lovers everywhere: Strawberry and Champagne. This chocolate candy caught me eye and, for under $2.00, buying one to test it out was a no-brainer. Chocolate, fruit, and alcohol in one bar? Yes please. And yes, I know it’s not really alcohol and just champagne flavored, but still: these three flavors will make me feel like I’m on some expensive date.
