Happy Halloween with Twix!

It is the merriest day of the year, where chocolate candy flows freely and while the quality may vary (stay away Palmer’s!) there are the favorite stand bys like Snickers, Milky Way and of course, Twix. Today we (a hot dog and Waldo) celebrated the receiving of a large quantity of Twix by handing it out to anyone that looked like they need a Halloween Hello.

Baby Ruth Crisp

You’d think after the 3 Musketeers Truffle Crisp debacle, I would have learned my lesson. But no, I saw Baby Ruth Crisp and the curious chocoholic in me couldn’t say no. Mostly because it doesn’t appear to be filled with that weird aerated, chalky, crunchy center that the 3 Musketeers one was.

I’ve enjoyed the recent popularity of ice cream with cake batter in it and when I saw this chocolate bar I was intrigued. Could it be that the success of cake mix as a flavor could extend to chocolate candy bars? We shall see.

I haven’t been much of a fan of the more generic Lindt Excellence flavors but I have really enjoyed their more unusual ones like pear and chili. So when I saw black currant done by a European company, I jumped on it.

Donkey Eggs

Fresh from the island of Hawaii by way of Kona, I bring to you today, Donkey Eggs. To be more specific, Lilikoi Passion malted balls.

Packaging
The donkey helps convey that a donkey was involved in the process…somewhere, somehow. At least I hope not. I do think he’s cute with his lei and geographically correct map in the background.

Appearance
These chocolate malted milk balls are coated (a thick coat too) of white chocolate flavored that are a little more than an inch in diameter. These eggs are not small eggs. According to their website: www.DonkeyBallStore.com these eggs also come in flavors of mango, coconut, mint and non-extra coated plain or dark milk chocolate.

Taste
I’m not much of a chocolate malted milk ball fan, in fact I detest and hide from Whoppers as possible. Unless paired with Mickey’s Ice of course. But when coated with a thick layer of white chocolate and hints of lilikoi, they aren’t so bad. It’s the kind of chocolate (not so high quality) that I recommend eating immediately due to the short shelf life where it starts tasting waxing and weird if you don’t. These are mostly a novelty chocolate, a great conversation piece to be shared with co-workers. But not to be eaten 10 at a time.
