Must-have Christmas Candy of the Season

While Halloween and Easter may be the holidays MOST associated with candy excellence, Christmas is no slouch. Hello advent calendars! Each day of the Big Countdown delivers a perfect piece of chocolate star tastiness. Not to mention stockings full of Snickers bars and candy canes, homemade caramels and dishes aplenty of Brach’s Candy

The entire holiday season is one big sugar-saturated candy bacchanalia.

In order to prioritize my holiday calorie distribution, I’ve decided to make a list of the absolute MUST-HAVE candies of the season. Otherwise, I might accidentally load up on things like sweet potato casserole and miss out on the prime edibles.

What I must have this holiday season are the following:

Paw Prints

If it were solely up to my taste-buds, I would eat nothing but paw prints for breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, snack #2, dessert – you get the idea. These perfect milk chocolate-covered pieces of caramel and pecan genius have been a favorite since childhood. I’m embarrassed to admit that it is due to these candies that I begin to understand what the Romans were thinking when they threw up to keep eating…

Brach’s Candy Peppermint Nuggets

My grandma used to put these in little holiday “doggie bags” she gave us for the road. The bags included healthy things like apples, oranges, black licorice – but all of that got chucked out the moment she closed the door. In the car, I would gorge myself on the mini medallions of minty, taffy-like substance. When I polished off my supply, I would pull a smash-and-grab on my little brother’s bag.

Chocolate Gold Coins

For the retro candy lover in all of us – as a child, chocolate coins were more precious to me than actual gold. Considering that gold prices these days continue to climb, I might rethink the preference… then again, I might not.

Gummy Cinnamon Christmas Bears

Perfect to cleanse a candy connoisseur’s palate, the mushy, red ursine fellas are even sweller if they’re softened up.

So, imagine me – top pants’ button undone, mouth covered in chocolate, peppermint nugget and red gummy – celebrating the season in sweet style. Have a great holiday season and remember candy isn’t just for kids. In fact, they say it’s really easy to take it from babies…
