This is attempt #2 at M&Ms Premiums. The first attempt in Mocha, went OK. The lack of hard candy shell and the ingesting of what appeared to be something metallic weirded me out, but the flavor of the mocha chocolate itself, was quite good.
But how will a mint chocolate offering measure up?
Packaging: Once again, fancy, crazy shaped box, plastic bag inside that includes a resealable sticker promising fabulousness and fun.
Smell: I do love mint! And this chocolate candy offering has a delightful, yet not overpowering hint of mint. Just like an Andes mint.
Appearance: This one doesn’t have the metallic-ness that the Mocha offering had, but it most certainly has the glossiness, reminiscent of a Junior Mint. The mint green color is a obviously related to the flavor but is mottled with black specks. Not a fan of black candy in general, but all piled up they look pretty.
Appearance Inside: I thought the chocolate itself would be flavored with mint, but in this case, it’s actually got a white mint center that is holding all that minty goodness in with a layer of chocolate around it. Then comes the candy shell. Cut one in half for great monster eyes if you were decorating Halloween cupcakes.
Taste: Ignoring the lack of candy shell and calling it a coating makes these quite a treat. Very minty with a hint of chocolate and without a lingering aftertaste. These very much remind me of Andes mints received post Thai meal or Italian spaghetti house. It’s definitely creamier and the ability for me to be eating these one right after the other until they are gone is high. Very high. I am mint fiend after all.
Recommended for consumption: Yes! At $4 a box, ouch. If you see them on sale, reach for a box, you won’t be sorry.
