Mars Delight

The Mars Delight chocolate candy bar was picked up for me in the UK and per the wrapper is promised to be “surprisingly crispy, deliciously smooth.” But is it? And will I be “delighted?”

Packaging

Mars Delight

The foil wrapper has a neat matte finish to it and makes me think light, smooth and swirls. It feels like it weighs next to nothing. The English spellings of “flavour” and “colour” make me giggle. And everything’s in metric and I’m not getting out a conversion chart, so I will remain blissfully ignorant of the calorie content.

Appearance

It looks like a Twix. I like Twix. It’s not as dense as a Twix, but it’s got that ripple effect going on. Plus, there’s two of them, just like Twix, just shorter.

Appearance Inside

Mars Delight Wafer

It looks nothing like it’s supposed to according to the Mars Delight website. There is supposed to be a creamy rippled wafer surrounded by caramel cream, chocolate cream and covered in milk chocolate. Biting into in destroys any chance of seeing the rippled wafer, as did cutting it. I can see a thin layer of caramel cream along the top and a thin layer of chocolate cream along the bottom, surrounded by the destruction of the crispy wafer.

Smell

Smells like milk chocolate, doesn’t smell much of anything else though.

Taste

Tastes great, I really like this one. I could eat bar after bar. The crunchy wafer doesn’t taste like much, but it doesn’t need to. The milk chocolate is really smooth and the caramel and chocolate creams blend well with it. Great finish, just the right amount of crunch and doesn’t hang around leaving an awful aftertaste.

I need more of these. Anyone going to London anytime soon?
