Mother’s Day is May 8th….you know what moms like? You not forgetting. And some moms like chocolate. If you’d like to win some artisanal chocolate from Guylian Belgian Chocolates you should keep reading.

Guylian’s name is the combination of two names, Guy and Liliane, which made a lot more sense to me, once I read the story. Guy and Liliane married in 1958 and decided to name their artisanal chocolate business after themselves, combining their first names. Guylian Chocolates are true Belgian chocolates, imported and made in small batches in copper kettles.

Cocoazilla received a haul of Guylian Chocolates to review, take apart and giveaway! So check out what Guylian has to offer and then see how you can win a 4.4oz box of Originals Seashells AND 4.5oz of Praline Original Temptations.

Guylian Original Chocolate Sea Shells

Dark and white chocolate, then milk and white chocolate swirl together to not only give these chocolates a unique look, but a pretty one at that. Filled with a hazelnut praline truffle center, these little aquatic beauties can fulfill any chocoholic (or non chocoholic) fix easily.

They are smooth and very sweet, so if you’re a sensitive chocolate eater and like your chocolate candy to be less sugar bomb and more creamy- you’ll pucker up a little with these. If you have a higher sweets threshold, these will both fall right into your repertoire, no problem.

Guylian Extra Dark Chocolate Sea Shells

So pretty and so many shapes. I was expecting like 3 of the same shape over and over again not all 11 being different. Each with the signature “G” on the smooth and slightly glossy surface.

The interior wasn’t as dark as I thought it would be- then I realized that the 74% cacao referred to the SHELL, not the interior. Duh. The interior is the hazelnut praline, also dark (darker- in comparison to the milk chocolate varieties) but really tasty and creamy- especially for border line dark chocolate lovers like me. I like a that bitter tang but not for the whole taste to be dark and bitter, which means that the praline mousse filling balances this out nicely.

Guylian’s Temptations Original Pralines

These little seahorses were sealed in their wrapper in addition to the twists at the end. That makes for a fresher chocolate taste, but like Fort Knox to get into. These are the Original flavor in a different format for packaging- a little more sharing friendly with the individual wrapped pieces. What is different is that the these seahorses are dark, milk and white chocolate all in one with the hazelnut praline. The back of the box does explain a little about the seahorses- each purchase goes to support Project Seahorse, an international marine conservation organization.

These were Cocoazilla’s favorite of all
.

Guylian No Sugar Added Milk Chocolate

Yeah “no sugar added” scared me a little at first, especially since they are made with a sugar alternative but these were a really nice trade off from the earlier (and much sweeter) truffles. The sweetener used in this chocolate is Malitol and is supposedly more friendly to diabetics. Smooth, creamy and light, this was a pleasant surprise over all.

Guylian No Sugar Added Dark Chocolate

This was actually way better than I thought it was going to be. No chemical or fake tastes at all, it really does taste like a high quality dark chocolate. A little bitter (only 54% cacao) with creamy, dark chocolate taste. Makes me wonder what would happen if I tried to bake with it.
