I was fortunate enough to receive free samples of both of the new treats from Ghirardelli: Twilight Delight a 72% cacao concoction and Evening Dream a 60% cacao chocolate with a hint of Madagascar vanilla.
Having tasted these samples, I am very glad that they were free samples, as I was not blown away by either, but they were good. I am not a huge dark chocolate aficionado, but I’m no slouch either. Based on the fancy packaging, marketing and website, I expected something a little more I guess. Provided the price was right I would delve back into these two deep dark chocolate candy offerings, but they are best consumed in the smaller squares than the whole bar.
The Twilight Delight is definitely a very heavy chocolate taste, but not chalky at all or bitter. It’s smooth, as you would expect from Ghirardelli and melted appropriately in my mouth. I think I made a mistake by trying this one first, because when I tried the Evening Dream it was almost non existent since the Twilight was so heavy on the cacao. I most definitely couldn’t find the hint of Madagascar vanilla.
What I would really like to try is Citrus Sunset. That one sounds wonderful. More to come when I get my hands on one!
