The Ghirardelli Square has always been a stable source for the chocoholic, whether it’s the physical San Francisco location or those wonderous little foil wrapped treats that we find all over the country. However you take your square of chocolate, it’s not always guaranteed to solve all your chocolate problems. Granted in general the Ghirardelli square is usually not a disappointment, but I have had a square I didn’t like. But is that the same case today with their limited edition Valentine’s offering of milk chocolate with vanilla caramel?
Appearance
Awww, they added golden hearts to the bag. See, that’s what makes it a Valentine’s edition. I would have preferred the actual shapes of the chocolate be hearts, but then they wouldn’t be squares. It’s a vicious cycle.
The light golden individually wrapped squares fall right into line with their previous offerings, no hearts to be found though.
Smell
The milk chocolate smell is fantastic, it even smells melty. Which it is if you hold it for any length of time while consuming, so watch your fingers.
Taste
And now we get down to it, is it a keeper or a tosser? It’s a keeper. I can’t stop eating them. I’m not sure what they did to make the caramel extra delicious, but it’s prevalent and a success. The milk chocolate is very smooth so the caramel is the over riding taste and that’s fine with me.

I cannot find this flavor. We got a bag of caramels from Costco and they were in the bag, but the website (ghiraradelli) does not carry it…
