Cadbury Creme Egg Twisted

Dipping into my stash of chocolate candy from the UK, I’ve uncovered what is basically Cadbury’s way of keeping the Creme Egg on the market when it’s not Easter- the Creme Egg Twisted. This milk chocolate bar has the filling of a creme egg, otherwise known as the “soft fondant centre” and is about 4 inches in length and quite dense. So what does it take like?

Packaging
Bright red and purple with a “twisted” font makes it look really fun.

Appearance
Yes, there are some naughty jokes that could be made about the appearance here…but we’ll refrain and instead admire the twisted uniformity and glossiness of the chocolate.

Appearance Inside
It very much looks like the inside of a creme egg, thicker, less of the fondant and not spilling out, like a new creme egg. (Ever notice that an older Cadbury egg is almost solid and a fresh egg drips out all over?) The milk chocolate is very thick across the bottom and even across the top, which is much thicker of a coating around the fondant than you’re used to seeing in the US.

Taste
When I first opened the package, it smelled great! It reminded me of Easter and one of my favorite candies, the Creme Egg. The milk chocolate is so thick, just like the shell of the egg and sticks a bit to the inside of my mouth because it’s a bit dry. A swig of milk makes this outstanding. The fondant is the same of the creme egg, so there are no surprises there other than it’s awesome to get to eat a Cadbury Creme Egg in September and not have it be leftover from March! Sweet, sweet fondant, we go way back. There’s more to the bar in terms of size than the egg, so I could only eat about half and save half for later. It’s great, but so sweet and so thick that it’s a bit much.
