In our continuing series on diving into the Marabou Chocolate Candy empire of Sweden, today’s features are Brejk- milk chocolate confection of rice crispies, caramel and chocolate cookie. And Skotte- dark chocolate with a chocolate mousse filling of raisins and tiny bits of almond.
First up:
Brejk
Packaging

It reminds me of Butterfinger and I keep trying to mentally change the writing to “break.” Apparently I was in the right track. I ran “brejk” through a Swedish-English translation and came back with “brake.” My guess is that the meaning is actually “break” and refers to either taking a break and eating one or the fact that the chocolate candy comes in two halves.

Appearance
Brejk comes in two halves and has a nice smoothness that reminds me of a See’s Scotchmallow bar. Inside the caramel center is clearly seen and thick, with a neat ring of rice crispy bits surrounding it in the milk chocolate coating.

Taste
Candy Blog hit it right on the head: it’s like if a Caramel Twix and 100 Grand Bar mated. The cookie part is really subtle, the rice crispies are actually much prominent than I thought they would be and the caramel center isn’t as sweet as a Twix, but is nice and chewy. The milk chocolate is fair and wraps everything up nicely.
Next up:
Skotte
Packaging
It’s a pretty selection of greens and plaid with the picture of the interior bar is a bit of a lie (as with most products). I ran the word “skotte” through the Swedish translator and it returned “Scot” and “Scotsman” which sounds like the chocolate bar is a take on a Scottish chocolate treat, especially since there’s plaid on the package. I’m not really sure what the Scottish part is after that. The inclusion of raisins?

Appearance
A thin dark chocolate coating of two separate halves (hooray!) and the interior isn’t exactly as the package shows. The actual interior has fewer almond bits and raisins but conveys a very mousse like structure that looks soft and like ice cream! I got a co-worker to use her powers of Swedish to deduce that the mousse actually is a hazelnut mousse.

Taste
I really like this one! Brejk I could take or leave, but this is one I would buy again without question. The little almond bits are a fun crunchy that adds to the overall flavor nicely, chewy raisins and I love the texture of the mousse filling. Melt-y but without being messy, I could easily eat both halves in one sitting.

They don’t look too bad. I don’t think they sell them where I live. I’ve never heard of them before.

Skotte bars are awesome. My wife is from Sweden and we lived there two years. Skotte bars became a good friend.
I found this site looking to find them in the States somewhere.
