Beaver Brittle- Peanut

When I saw “Beaver Brittle” I knew I had to try it. Even better, it’s handmade local Beaver Brittle- can’t be eating east coast beaver brittle after all! This particular product is from the Dan Marco Trading Co in Tigard, OR, who also makes a hazelnut and almond brittle versions as well. I would have linked to their site, but it appears not to exist anymore. I assure you though, this particular piece of brittle has not reached it’s expiration date yet, so they are still around.

So what does milk chocolate Peanut Beaver Brittle taste like?

Packaging
On the back, the ingredient list is so simple- I’ll just list it out: peanut butter, sugar, milk chocolate (sugar chocolate liquor, milk, cocoa butter, soya lecthin and vanilla) peanuts, corn syrup, water, vanilla, baking soda, salt. That’s it! The shiny gold package and old time lettering combined with the simple ingredients is making me hopeful for very tasty chocolate candy treat.

Appearance
A nice chunk of chocolate and peanuts with peanut pieces well embedded in the top. The smoothness of the chocolate and the little artful swirl give it a touch of class. The interior shows that this piece is indeed packed with peanut taste. The piece is about 2″x2″.

Taste
The milk chocolate coating is thick and a good creamy chocolate that doesn’t stick around and linger. It melds nicely with the brittle and chunks of peanut. The only complaint I would have is that the chunks of peanuts can (not in every bite) overpower the taste of the brittle. It’s all peanut-y anyway, so it’s not like it’s overriding a secondary ingredient like raisins or orange.
