Baby Ruth Crisp

You’d think after the 3 Musketeers Truffle Crisp debacle, I would have learned my lesson. But no, I saw Baby Ruth Crisp and the curious chocoholic in me couldn’t say no. Mostly because it doesn’t appear to be filled with that weird aerated, chalky, crunchy center that the 3 Musketeers one was.

Packaging
At first, I didn’t even recognize the wrapper or put it together that it was a Baby Ruth. For some reason I thought it was a Pay Day or a 3 Musketeers, especially since I don’t really reach for regular Baby Ruth as it is.

Appearance
Two separate bars (unlike the original but like the 3 Musketeers Crisp) with a thin coating of chocolate on the outside. The first reaction is that the chocolate looks cheap on top of being thin. Inside there are many wafer layers with a “creme” like filling, all nice and neat.

Taste
The bar smells a little bit like a Baby Ruth (due to the peanuts and caramel) but it tastes like diet chocolate. I know it’s “light” and “crispy” for that less calorie, less filling-ness, but I am not fooled. This makes me feel like I’m on a diet. The peanuts are salty as heck, more than the original, the wafers crispy nicely- but don’t taste like anything. It’s not horrible, it’s not something I will be reaching for in the future.

Bottom line: trying to slim down to fit into a wedding dress and having trouble cutting the regular chocolate? This will work in a pinch.
